Co-organised by the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) and the Vietnam Association of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, the event offers delegates an opportunity to update new knowledge, exchange, and share expertise through a collection of about 100 quality essays and reports in the fields of: Clinical Hematology, Subclinical Hematology, Blood transfusion, Stem cell transplant, Genetics – Molecular biology, along with exhibits and meaningful side activities. This is the largest scientific conference of haematology – blood transfusion is held periodically, contributing to the development of the profession and the cause of protecting the people’s health. Dr. Bach Quoc Khanh, head of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) cum head of the organising committee of the National Conference on Haematology – Blood Transfusion in 2020, said that 2020 has been a year full of fluctuations due to the Covid-19 pandemic across the globe. Blood transfusions in a series of countries face the risk of a crisis in blood donors. However, the haematology and blood transfusion industry of Vietnam has been proactive and creative in mobilising blood donors and safely receiving and supplying blood, contributing to the overall success of the country before the pandemic. Under great pressure for both treatment and prevention of epidemics, the team of experts and health workers are constantly learning and conducting research to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases and hematopoietic organs. These efforts are reflected in the scientific research projects presented at the conference invested in both quality and quantity, with high practical value for blood transfusion and treatment and care patient. The conference also devoted time to 17 reports presented by young staff memebers. This is a really meaningful activity maintained during the National Conference on Hematology – Blood Transfusion in 2020, in order to create conditions for young staff to learn, practice scientific research and develop their capacity, thus building a contiguous team for the sector.
